Get the Look for Less: Classically Modern

We're loving this Better Home & Garden's kitchen! It's the perfect blend of the best in classic and modern tastes - timeless pieces/patterns + bright and cozy neutrals.

Recreate the Look:

For this two-tone look, try these shades for your cabinets:

• For bright, white uppers – Titanium Infusion (Nuvo), part of our Modern Collection.

• For warm, greige lowers – Hearthstone (Nuvo), part of our Rustic Collection. **Please note, this color can lean more gray or more beige depending on your kitchen's lighting or colors.**

• For furniture accents or an island - Bluebird (Chalkworthy) Or for a more navy color, use a quart of Nuvo's Oxford Blue

Note: Nuvo has a satin finish and Chalkworthy has a matte finish.

Dark Brown Granite: Use the Chocolate Brown kit.

You can recreate this darker application in two ways:

• Purchase an additional can of the IronCore Primer (or add on the Black Onyx mineral to your kit) so that you can use it as an additional mineral color during Step 2.

• You could add in your own black mineral color as long as you use a water-based acrylic paint.

Note: Because it is impossible to check the compatibility between the Giani minerals and all acrylics, the acrylics and minerals must be allowed to dry for a longer time period. Additionally, be sure to dilute the acrylics with water so they match the consistency of the Giani minerals, otherwise you’ll get a lumpy texture. Apply the Giani primer first and let it dry for the standard 8 hours. Next, sponge on water-based, acrylics of your choice and the Giani minerals. Let them dry for 12 hours and then apply the Giani topcoat.

For this application, you'll use your Primer, or a water-based acrylic, to add in some black when you're sponging on your mineral colors. You’ll want to dab off most of the excess paint off your sponge before applying your minerals. Also, use a little less pressure (and paint) than we do in our Chocolate Brown how-to video.

Start by sponging on the 1st two colors (Brown Feldspar and Inca Gold) closely together and right after each other so that they blend while they're wet. Wait 2-5 minutes (or till you can tell that the minerals are drying) to sponge on the Chocolate Brown mineral and the Primer. Be sure to sponge close together so that you’re only showing a little of the Inca Gold and Brown Feldspar.

Don't be afraid to get creative with your Giani! You can paint it to YOUR preference, and since it is paint, it can always be adjusted to fit your specific style.

Hardware + Accessories

Finish your makeover by adding small pops of color to contrast with the neutral cabinetry. We love the bright blue that added some personality and vibrancy to the timeless pieces in this kitchen. Pair with classic patterns, farmhouse pulls and knobs, traditional lighting, and seating.
